Suzanne Vega :: Calypso
Okay so today brings back the literary song motif, and starts what I hope to be a week long trend of one specific literary tie: The Odyssey.
(Or Ulysses if you're Roman ...)
So the next several posts will have songs relating to the epic tale, it should be fun!
To start things off we have Suzanne Vega's haunting song Calypso. Thankfully, she explains at the beginning of the song what it is about. It is a song about the sea nymph Calypso and her love affair with Odysseus. Except from Calypso's perspective.
An interesting perspective. Though i feel i should point out that Calypso imprisoned Odysseus ... not exactly Kathy Bate's Misery style, but imprisoned none-the-less.
Anyway enjoy installment one of songs inspired by Homer's Odyssey!
