This song is quickly hitting 50+ times played on my iTunes.
It rocks that hard.
The little melodic guitar singing back to the singer during the whole song is awesome. The chorus carries the perfect amount of pump to get me moving in the morning, or to encourage me to push 1 more pull up, etc.
(wow i feel like an idiot. I've been abbreviating et cetera wrong forever. I've always done "ect" and just ignored the spell check assuming the spell check didn't recognize abbreviations.)
Plus, it's one of those awesome educational songs ... you know, music with a message.

(101) Seether :: Careless Whisper
Seether :: Careless Whisper
Okay, not a huge fan of Seether, but, this cover is pretty amazing.
Also not a huge fan of Wham but that's simply because most 80's music starts to blend into noise for me ... it's not Wham's fault.
All that said, Seether's rock + Wham's song = superb.
I know. I know. Lot's of people are in an uproar about this cover, because Wham / George Michael has such a strong following.
But suck it up.
It's a great cover, and it's spreading one generation of music to a new generation.
Their, know that I'm off the soap box I will turn up the radio and listen.
You should do the same!

You can't not like this song.
Everyone loves it.
Period.

Judas Priest is (if you didn't know) is a British heavy metal band that was huge in the 70's and 80's.
This song has a riff that anyone alive should recognize the instant they hear it.
This should then lead to immediate head bobbing (or banging if you're not worried about the social implications of such an event).
Turn it up and rock out, this song pumps.

This song is awesome. Seriously. If you don't love this song I will fight you, at noon, everyday for a lifetime.
Not sure what too call these guys ... electronica? Dance / Hip-Hop? I dunno.
This song is apparently sampled 100% from the film of the same name.
I've not seen the film so I can't confirm this, but, this song is still amazing.

(98) Nine Inch Nails :: Dead Souls
Nine Inch Nails :: Dead Souls
All right, tons to say about this track.
First, it's a cover of Joy Division and both versions are amazing.
Also, it's worth noting that this song is yet another track for the "literary" theme. The song shares a title with Nikolai Gogol's 19th century novel.
This song in my opinion played a pivotal part in defining a generation.
How?
The 1990's (and some of the late 80's) were filled with an alternative / industrial / heavy / goth rock surge. Trench coats anyone?
This song was featured on The Crow soundtrack, as were several other songs that helped identify the era. The Crow soundtrack acts in many ways like the Good Morning Vietnam soundtrack, that is, both film's soundtracks identify and represent an era more completely then any late night infomercial compilation album could do.
So, with that. Go watch both of those movies, listen to both soundtracks, and discuss them with your friends.

Jefferson Airplane :: White Rabbit
The guitar line and steady drum rolling really drive this song.
Oh and Grace Slick's powerful vocals are pretty damn hot too.
Another song that dips into the "literary" theme, this song is on obvious reference to 'Through the Looking Glass'.
Also, I'll point out that I loath when people tell me you have to be high to truly appreciate a song. Wrong. I however, do enjoy, being sober enough to know what the f'n song is about, and being able to tell whether the song is actually good or not.
I point this out because (especially with a lot of 60's rock) drugs are largely influential. Well, that doesn't mean i need to be ripped to appreciate the music now does it?
So turn up the volume, an enjoy the damn music.

Piano Sonata No. 14 :: Ludwig van Beethoven
I don't think I've included a piece of Classical Music on the blog yet, so here goes nothing. I enjoy a far amount of classical, more then the average individual I'd say, but I'm not gung-ho classical or anything.
While I realize this song is probably over done as the "non-classical" lovers "favorite" classical piece, or if nothing else has been used on 9 billion commercials and in an equal amount of movies and other forms of entertainment, it is still an amazing piece of music.
^What's up run on sentence?
Also, i can play (an incorrect, but still impressive sounding) version of the song on the piano myself. My father taught me, and it's one of my favorite things to play.
Also, of awesome note, it was featured in the original Resident Evil game ... and brought an incredibly haunting mood to the game. It was even more awesome for me, cause I actually knew the piece of music.
Regardless, close your eyes, relax, and ...
.. enjoy.
