(111) Jamey Johnson :: In Color

Jamey Johnson :: In Color

Jamey Johnson is an American country artist with a deep, brandy-laden, southern set of vocal chords.

I'm not overly familiar with his music, but he's been signed since 2005 and has had a couple of hit singles since, this one.

This song never fails to give me chills, and I'm convinced it will do the same for you, even if you hate country.

I spent the last week pouring over family pictures, and this song kept playing in my mind, so here it goes.

Enjoy.

In loving memory of Lee Ann Sullivan, 1934-2009.

(110) Tom Lehrer :: New Math

Tom Lehrer :: New Math

Okay the end of the comedic musicians. Tom Lehrer is funny and smart!

I wanted to share some older comedy genius instead of just contemporary comedy genius.

I encourage you to listen to more of Tom Lehrer more, he truly is a funny man.

He has a lot of 60's political comedy, but it's still funny!
(This video is not actually Tom Lehrer, it's some guy lip syncing it, but it's a more complete version!)

Enjoy!

(109) Bo Burnham :: 3.14 Apple Pi

Bo Burnham :: 3.14 Apple Pi

In the vein of comedic music I give you Bo Burnham.

This kid is amazing. He's 18 or 19 now, but has been doing this for awhile.

He got his fame from the YouTube. He even performed at the YouTube Live 2008 concert.

It was so hard to pick a song for this, but I settled. I implore you to listen to more of him!

Enjoy!

(108) Steven Lynch :: Beelz

Steven Lynch :: Beelz

Steven Lynch is hilarious. If you haven't heard him, go buy his albums now, or download them, or follow the link above.

He is a comedic guitarist and sings about a variety of inappropriate topics, like superheros, taxi drivers, God, Satan, naughty professors, and ugly babies.

All of them are funny. I promise.

I first heard him on the Opie & Anthony show, but I've also seen him live.

Totally worth it. I peed a little.

So give it a listen, here is a less live version (were the lyrics are easier to understand) but without the Obama reference.

Enjoy!

(107) A Tribe Called Quest :: Award Tour

A Tribe Called Quest :: Award Tour

This group is fantastic, and has contributed some incredible talent and inspiration to the hip hop world.

The group is composed of Q-Tip, Phife Dawg, and Ali Shaheed Muhammad.

I personally really enjoy everything I've heard Q-Tip do, especially the collaborative work with the RZA.

There is also a phenomenal spoken word that Ali Shaheed Muhammad did that I love. Spoken word is bad ass.

Kick up a barbecue and turn this up and just chill. That's what I'll be doing.

Enjoy!

(106) Marilyn Manson :: The Beautiful People

Marilyn Manson :: The Beautiful People

A short one today, and a call back to my youth.

I'm sure you've heard the song before, but if not you're in for a treat.

I believe this song was released in 1996. So, i was banging my head to it when I was 12. Awesome.

My brain is kind of on overload for what factoids I should type about the band or song, because there is so much.

So do a google search and find out for yourself.

Enjoy!

(105) The Counting Crows :: Mr. Jones

The Counting Crows :: Mr. Jones

Hectic day today, and not much time to give today's song any thought.

So here's what i did. I opened my iTunes, hit the shuffle button, and posted the first song that wasn't from a band all ready used on the blog.

Lucky me, this was the first track to play.

I personally love this song, hello nostalgic 90's. Also, hello fun song to play on the guitar (even if i can't play it well).

So enjoy this shuffle selected song, and hopefully you aren't having as hectic a day as I am!
